Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020

What is it?

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) is the Department for Education’s (DfE’) statutory safeguarding guidance for schools and colleges in England.

The 2020 version comes into force on 1 September 2020.

What are the changes?

A full list of changes is included in Annex H of the guidance.

These include:

  • Updates to reflect mandatory RSHE from September
  • Additional information on keeping children safe online while learning from home

You can respond to the DfE’s consultation on the proposed changes through its online survey.

The consultation closes on 21 April 2020.
