Step Up, Speak Up: resources on online sexual harassment

What is it?

A practical toolkit that includes a range of resources to address the issue of online sexual harassment among 13-17 year olds.

The toolkit is made up of 4 scenario-based lesson plans with accompanying films, an audio story, workshops and an assembly presentation. They aim to give young people the oportunity to:

  • Explore their own attitudes and opinions
  • Discuss ways to challenge unacceptable online behaviour
  • Understand how to report harassment

The toolkit was developed by Childnet in response to findings from Project deSHAME.

How to use it

Childnet explains that these resources are not designed to 'solve' issues of online sexual harassment. You should use them to raise awareness of the issue, prompt discussion, encourage young people to report the unacceptable behaviour they may encounter online, and access the help they need.

Where to find it

Access the toolkit from Childnet’s website.
