Code of Conduct

The following guidance outlines the behaviour that all CEOP Education Network Members and CEOP Education Ambassadors are expected to follow.

Any breaches of the code of conduct may result in the NCA terminating or suspending your online account or your Ambassador status.

Using our resources

All our CEOP Education resources including films, presentations, templates and lesson plans, are provided for free use by UK practitioners who work with children and young people, their families and other professionals. We want as many people as possible to benefit from all of the educational materials we produce.

It is important, however, that the messages contained within our resources are delivered within context and relevant to children and young people’s experiences online. Online child sexual abuse is an area which requires a degree of sensitivity as the topic can be distressing for some people.

As a result we ask that you:

  • only use CEOP Education resources in the form and for the purpose they are intended for;
  • do not modify any CEOP Education resources (in any medium) for any other purpose than that permitted;
  • do not copy, post or upload any CEOP Education resources (in any medium) onto a public website or file-sharing platform without the permission of NCA CEOP Education;
  • do not sell, charge or make financial gain from the use of any CEOP Education resources (in any medium);
  • do not use any CEOP Education resources(in any medium) which the National Crime Agency CEOP Education team has retired, withdrawn or replaced;
  • do not use any CEOP Education resources (in any medium) where the National Crime Agency CEOP Education team has suspended or terminated your online account.

All of our current resources can be found here.

If you have any questions about the permitted uses of any CEOP Education resources please contact the CEOP Education team at ceopeducation@nca.gov.uk

Working safely with children and young people, their families and other professionals

Most of those using CEOP Education resources work with children and young people, their families and other professionals every day and are well aware of expected standards of behaviour and safe working practices.

To emphasise the importance of professional conduct, we ask all Network Members and Ambassadors to ensure that everyone has a positive experience and that no-one is placed at risk of harm when using CEOP Education resources.

Expected behaviour

When using CEOP Education resources with children and young people, their families or other professionals you will:

  • Uphold the CEOP Education values
  • Follow your organisation’s safeguarding policy and code of conduct to ensure you minimise the risk of harm to others.
  • Treat all people with dignity and respect, providing a positive environment where discrimination, harassment and victimisation are not tolerated.
  • Not engage in abusive, exploitative or illegal conduct with any persons, of any age. This includes (but is not limited to) language and behaviour which is inappropriate, harassing, abusive, intimidating,  intended to humiliate or is culturally inappropriate – whether face to face or through online.

CEOP Education Ambassadors

In addition to the points above, CEOP Education Ambassadors are expected to:

  • only use the CEOP Education Ambassador title when delivering CEOP Education resources to professionals, parents and carers and children and young people;
  • not use the CEOP Education Ambassador title in a way which may suggest that they are in the employment of the NCA or NCA-CEOP Education;
  • not use the CEOP Education Ambassador title in any way from which they may directly profit financially or otherwise. For example, Ambassadors will not charge for their training or make financial gain from the use of CEOP Education resources.
  • inform the NCA-CEOP Education Team of any changes in their employment (for example, they have retired, become self-employed,  or no longer work for the same organisation they did when they trained as an Ambassador) or any changes in their personal details including contact details.
  • submit termly feedback to the CEOP Education Team by completion of the Termly Ambassador Survey.
  • inform the NCA CEOP Education team (ceopeducation@nca.gov.uk) immediately of the initiation of any form of criminal investigation, or any changes to criminal convictions, concerning themselves, a partner or someone they are closely associated with that may make them unsuitable to work with children and young people.

Please contact the NCA CEOP Education team (ceopeducation@nca.gov.uk) if you want to inform us of any Network Member or Ambassador who has breached this code of conduct.
